The Amarillo Pioneer Publishes Runoff Voter Guide

Our runoff election voter guide is now live at AmarilloVotes.online. We reached out to the candidates who made it to the runoff election following the May 6th election to allow them to update their answers. Those answers have been published unedited on the voter guide.

In addition to the updated answers, links to the candidate’s original answers are provided.

The runoff election is occurring because, in the May 6th election, no candidate for City Council Place 1 or City Council Place 4. Each race is now down to just the top two candidates.

In the race to fill Mayor Cole Stanley’s old Place 1 seat are firefighter Josh Craft and entrepreneur and lottery winner Dean Crump. In the race to replace Place 4 Councilman Howard Smith are former Amarillo Globe-News publisher Les Simpson and entrepreneur Claudette Smith.

Early Voting is June 12th to June 20th, though polling locations will be closed from June 17th to 19th. Election Day is Saturday, June 24th.

For voters in Randall County, early voting locations will be the Randall County Annex and Comanche Trail Church of Christ, each of with will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from June 12th to June 16th and from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on June 20th. Both of those locations will be open on Election Day, in addition to Oasis Southwest Baptist Church, Southwest Church of Christ, Texas Panhandle War Memorial Center, and the Southwest Branch Library.

For voters in Potter County, early voting locations will be the Santa Fe Building, Casey Carpet One, Cornerstone Outreach, and the Northwest Branch Library. Each of these locations will be open 8:00 am to 5:00 pm throughout early voting except for the Santa Fe Building, which will be open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm from June 12th to June 16th and 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on June 20th. Each of these locations will also be open on Election Day, in addition to Kids, Inc., Pride Home Center (on 24th), and the Tri-State Fairgrounds.

All Election Day polling locations will be open 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
