Former County Commissioner Considering Run for Price's House Seat

Craig Gualtiere, who previously owned Roasters Coffee and served as a Randall County Commissioner, is considering a run for state representative following Four Price’s announcement he will not seek reelection. Gualtiere confirmed his consideration in a text message on Wednesday.

Gualtiere was elected to the Randall County Commissioners’ Court in 1998 and purchased Roasters Coffee & Tea Company later that year.

In 2021, Gualtiere filed a petition and sued the City of Amarillo to attempt to halt plans to replace Amarillo City Hall. Following Gualtiere’s attempts to halt the project, the City of Amarillo canceled its plans to issue certificates of obligation before bringing back the project via combination tax and revenue notes later that year.

More recently, Gualtiere sold Roasters in March 2022 to focus on his drag racing hobby.

Two other names who have expressed interest in running include former Potter County GOP vice chair Mike Yazbek and City of Amarillo intergovernmental affairs liaison Carter Estes. Other potential candidates in the race include Potter County Chairman Dan Rogers and Perryton Mayor Kerry Symons.
