Powell's Cost Per Vote More Than Double Stanley's

According to reports filed last month, Freda Powell spent more than twice as much per vote compared to Cole Stanley during this year's mayoral election.

Powell, who earned second place in the election, spent a total of $65,263.28 from January 1st to June 30th. Having earned 3,885 votes, the former councilwoman spent $16.80 per vote.

Meanwhile, during the same period, Stanley spent $123,709.25 and won with a record-breaking 15,978 votes. This put Stanley's cost per vote at $7.74.

Don Collins, who placed third with 532 votes, spent $4,336.91, putting his cost per vote at $8.15.

Fourth place finisher Tonya C. Winston, who received 341 votes, spent the most amount per vote of any mayoral candidate. Winston spent at least $8,270.26, though the most recent report from Winston's campaign published by the city ended April 25th. Still, even if Winston did not spend any money beyond that date, her cost per vote would be at $24.25.

The most recent report filed by Sam Burnett published by the city ended April 28th. Assuming the campaign had no further expenditures beyond that date, Burnett's cost per vote was $2.57. Burnett reported $811.88 and received 316 votes.

Jeffery McGunegle, who received last place, spent the least amount of money per vote. McGunegle reported $110 in expenses and received 116 votes, giving his campaign a cost per vote of just $0.97.

It is also worth noting that these figures only apply to expenditures from the campaign of the candidates and does not include any PAC spending.

For the mayoral election as a whole, assuming neither Winston nor Burnett had further expenses, a total of $9.57 was spent per vote in this year's election.
