Amarillo City Council is set to consider more than $4.6 million in spending items during their upcoming regular meeting. Notable spending items include an annual contract for hot mix asphaltic concrete, purchase of spare pumps for playa lakes, and a new improvements contract for the Town Square PID.
The largest spending item on the agenda, 10P, is an annual contract worth up to $1,780,000 for hot mix asphaltic concrete for use by the Street Division. The cost under the contract, which is set to be awarded to Advantage Asphalt Products, Ltd., is $89 per ton. The contract includes options for three additional renewals subject to negotiation.
The next largest item is 10M, which is a purchase of spare pumps for all existing pump stations at the city’s playa lakes, as well as a spare motor for the Bennett Lake pump station. The contract is set to be awarded to James, Cook, Hobson and is worth $599,260. The council is also set to consider another spending item related to the city’s playa lakes, with a $65,102 contract to inspect pump station intakes at Lawrence East, Lawrence West, Tee Anchor, Martin Road, and Bennet set to go to Chapman Marine, Inc.
The third largest item, 10H, is an improvements agreement for the Town Square Public Improvement District set to be awarded to Perry Williams Contractor, LLC. The $517,103.68 agreement will be paid for with the PID’s assessment revenues.
Aside from spending items, the council is also set to consider a budget amendment to move $398,1010 from the council’s working budget to the Public Health Fund. Previously, the Public Health Fund had been given a $1,000,000 budget to fund a new women’s clinic. The budget amendment will increase this amount. However, the supporting documentation for the item in the agenda packet appears to erroneously be for a previously approved amendment to the 2022-23 budget.
The meeting is set to begin at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, November 12th on the third floor of Amarillo City Hall. The full agenda and agenda packet can be found at this link.
