State Rep.-elect Caroline Fairly (R-Amarillo) recently filed her first bill for the upcoming legislative session.
Fairly’s bill, HB 1481, would prohibit the use of personal wireless communication devices by Texas students during instructional time. These devices would include cell phones, laptops, tablets, and any device capable of transmitting and/or receiving data.
The bill would also require school boards to adopt policies prohibiting the use of wireless communication devices by students during instructional time. Schools would also be required to provide a secure, out-of-sight area for such devices.
