Voters will be heading back to the polls on May 28th to decide three runoff elections, including two races in which the candidates tied during the first primary election.

On March 5, voters in Ector County decided a number of precinct chair elections, but two races remained tied after Election Day. In Precinct 205, Charles Pierce and Dale Barnes each received 142 votes, while in Precinct 310, Jaime Mendoza and Randy Elam each received 68 votes.

Due to the ties in both precincts, voters will again head to the polls for the May 28th runoff election to decide these two contests.

In addition to the precinct chair elections, another runoff will be held in Ector County for Justice of the Peace in Precinct 1. Carlos Chavez and Jennifer Mahan-Woodall will face off in a runoff as neither candidate was able to secure 50 percent of the vote in the first round.
