Voters approved a measure on Saturday night that will allow two local school districts to consolidate into one.

According to unofficial election results, voters approved Proposition A to consolidate Borger ISD and Spring Creek ISD on Saturday. The measure passed with 86 percent of Borger ISD voters in favor and 62 percent of Spring Creek ISD voters in favor.

The move to consolidate the districts came after falling enrollment numbers in Spring Creek ISD caused the school district to owe the Texas Education Association a repayment of around $600,000 in state funding.

Following the item’s passage, Spring Creek ISD and Borger ISD’s consolidation is expected to be effective on July 1st.
