Amarilloans will pay their respects to philanthropist, businessman, and civic leader Jerry Hodge next week.

According to an obituary from Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Hodge’s memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 1st, at the First Baptist Church in downtown Amarillo. The 2 pm service will be officiated by Dr. Howie Batson, and Hodge will be interred at Llano Cemetery.

Hodge, 81, served as Amarillo’s mayor for two terms, beginning in 1981. With his election at age 34, Hodge became the youngest mayor in the city’s history. Prior to his election as mayor, Hodge purchased Maxor Drug and turned the company into a household name with clients across the United States.
