Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2022?
A: After serving in the U.S. Army for 22 years, one thing I have learned is to follow the sounds of the gun. As both our state and our nation is fighting many battles, I answered the call to service. My campaign for Governor of Texas is not about running against anyone. Instead, it is centered on establishing an impeccable standard of leadership that is laser-focused on serving you, and being for Texas. That is why our campaign tagline is “Defending the Texas Republic.”
Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?
A: The top priorities for Texas are securing our southern border, reestablishing and upholding the rule of law, and restoring individual rightsand freedoms, protecting their life, liberty, property and pursuit of happiness. I will support the legislative priorities of the Republican Party of Texas.
Q: What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?
A: One major issue that has gone overlooked in this race is the issue of energy independence. Texas is blessed by God with energy resources that are unimaginable. We cannot allow Texas to fall prey to the spell of the delusion that is called the Green New Deal and lose our energy security. To address this issue, I will ensure Chapter313 subsidies for renewable energy systems are ended and reduce our level of reliance on wind and solar in Texas, as well, ensure we have redundancy in our energy distribution systems. I adamantly support our oil and gas industry and believe Texas should produce, consume, and export is energy resources...first Texas energy independence, then American.
Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?
A: My life has been defined as one of service, sacrifice, and commitment to this Republic, the United States of America. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and eventually commissioned through ROTC at the University of Tennessee in 1982. After serving in the United States Army for 22 years in Afghanistan and Iraq, I retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. I continued my oath of service to these United States through representing Florida’s 22nd District in the United States House of Representatives where I sat on the House Armed Services and Small Businesses Committees. After relocating to the great state of Texas, I was appointed to the Sunset Advisory Commission, served as the Executive Director of the National Center for Policy Analysis, and most recently served as the Chairman of the Republican Party of Texas. It is time for Texans to have a leader who will fight alongside them.
