A: Former Public Radio Reporter, former teacher

A: Not a business owner
Q: Please list any civic boards or commissions (non-profit, government, union, political, etc.) on which you have served as a board member or equivalent.
A: As a reporter, I couldn’t serve on a board or a commission
Q: Have you previously held or do you currently hold any elected office? If so, what office(s)?
A: I don’t hold an elected office as of yet
Q: If your campaign has any online campaign resources where voters can learn more about you, such as social media accounts or a website, please list them below.
A: Https://www.texasneedsjoy.com —— on FB I am texasneedsjoy Diaz and on Twitter I am @TXNeedsJoy2022
Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2022?
A: Because we need to make radical changes in Texas. The current leadership is self-serving instead of providing public service. I am so committed to serving Texans, that I quit my job in November and borrowed the money to file for state-wide office. I’m willing to go into debt to make sure change finally reaches Texans. When I got infected with COVID in March of 2021, I decided to live a life of service to Texans.
Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?
A: There are so many things that could serve Texans - but the most immediate is signing Medicaid expansion. People in Texas are in desperate need for healthcare. I would invest heavily in our schools - making sure federal dollars from the Build Back Better Plan are actually used to fund our broadband internet expansion - schools and rural communities need the internet to survive and thrive. And my third most immediate priority is to stop the man-made chaos we find at the border. The border needs order. Governor Greg Abbott has only brought us eight years of chaos.
Q: What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?
A: Many have been overlooked. The border is a massive one. As the first bilingual and bicultural candidate for governor, I have an advantage over other candidates - I am culturally aware of crucial differences that could help Texas when negotiating an agreement between Mexico and the United States when it comes to border issues.
Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?
A: I would be the first bilingual and bicultural governor. I would also be the first woman in 3 decades to be elected to the post - this gives me a unique perspective for challenges such as COVID, education, women’s healthcare, mental health, guns and the environment.
