LeTourneau University BS Management

A: Real estate professional

Q: If you are a business owner, please list the business or businesses that you own. (If this question is not applicable, please note that below.)

A: I own and rent several residential properties in Amarillo.

Q: Please list any civic boards or commissions (non-profit, government, union, political, etc.) on which you have served as a board member or equivalent.

A: System Administrator Guild (SAGE), Bishop Lynch Catholic School, Panhandle 2020, Amarillo Area Black Chamber of Commerce, and The Greater North Heights Neighborhood Association.

Q: Have you previously held or do you currently hold any elected office? If so, what office(s)?

A: I was previously on the board of System Administrator Guild (SAGE) and served as secretary.

Q: If your campaign has any online campaign resources where voters can learn more about you, such as social media accounts or a website, please list them below.

A: electtimothygassaway.com

Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2022?

A: I am running because I see opportunity for the county. The natural progression in Amarillo is to expand the city to the north. We’ve got to get prepared for that expansion because if we don’t, we won’t be able to capture those opportunities. If we shepherd and spearhead that expansion, Potter County will be better off.

Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

A: The 2021-22 budget comprises 10 areas of expenditures with three of those areas consuming 75% of the budget: corrections and rehabilitation (28.018% or $19,166,076), judicial (28.018% or $19,048,435), and public safety/public service (18.87% or $12,910,477); looking at ways to maximize efficiency in those departments would be my top priority.

The goal as commissioner is to serve the citizens and taxpayers of Potter County as effectively and efficiently as possible, while ensuring the county’s budget will meet the demands of a growing county.

Q: What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

A: Potter County Precinct 4 will be instrumental in generating new ad valorem taxes through new property growth. The future expansion of Potter County is a great opportunity for the Texas Panhandle.

As Potter County Precinct 4 Commissioner, I’ll create the momentum it will take to get all stakeholders to the table to create a new, bold direction for the county.

Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

A: I typically have a different approach than most. I'm a trained problem solver; a large part of that training is listening. That, along with my education and experience, will allow me to get things done for my Potter County Precinct 4 constituents.
