Q: Why did you decide to run for this office in 2021?
A: I believe I have unique gifts, experiences, and insights along with a peaceful bridge building leadership style that has served the board well. I decided to run for reelection to the AISD school board because I want to continue to serve my community and school district with these gifts.
Q: If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?
A: If elected I will continue with the three priorities of the current school board in an effort to advance AISD's mission statement , "To graduate every student prepared for life and success beyond High School" . 1. To provide a safe and secure place for learning for both our students and staff. 2. To close the learning gap between sub-populations by providing equitable learning environments and resources for all students. 3. To increase students who are ready for college, career, or military.
Q: In what cases would you support efforts to raise property taxes? Please explain.
A: I would support efforts to raise property taxes when it is absolutely needed to protect the proper education of the students of our district.
Q: What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?
A: n/a
Q: Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?
A: I have experience on the school board and leading through times of intense crisis. I have experience in the classroom and in the fine arts which gives me a unique view on how certain decisions impact staff and students. I have a peaceful, unifying leadership style and am able to listen to all sides of a discussion and make a confident decision. I am willing to admit when I am not the expert on a subject coupled with a desire to learn to make informed decisions in every aspect of district governance.
