The Amarillo Police Department Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal crash that took place on Sunday night.
APD reports that officers were dispatched on a call last night of a vehicle that had hit a traffic control light a Interstate 40 and Soncy. The vehicle, a 2008 Chrysler 300, was driven by Joshua Gonzales, 26. Gonzales' vehicle has been approaching westbound on the frontage road toward Soncy. Gonzales lost control on the vehicle and struck the pole.
APD reports that Gonzales died from his injuries in the crash. Justice of the Peace Gary Jackson has ordered an autopsy.
Speed was believed to be a factor in the accident.
