Animal Management and Welfare to Close Mondays, Extend Saturday Hours

The Amarillo Department of Animal Management & Welfare will soon be changing its hours.

According to information released on Tuesday, the animal care agency is changing its hours, beginning on Monday, February 5th. Starting on February 5th, the AAM&W department will be closed on Mondays. However, the agency is extending its Saturday hours to 10am through 5pm. The change is aimed to align the agency's hours with those of the Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society.

Due to the change, staff utilized on Mondays will now be reassigned to Saturdays to better serve the shelter. Animals will also see their stray period extended by one day, meaning Mondays will no longer count toward the three day stray hold before becoming AAM&W property.
