Why did you decide to run for this office in 2025?

It's time to get back to what matters most for all our citizens. I have served Amarillo over many years in the areas of safety, children, education, and Veterans Affairs, which gives me a background prepared to represent and address the needs of our city.

My entire career is one of service to my nation and my community. I firmly believe that we all have an obligation to serve our communities by using our gifts and talents in the areas they fit best. Now is the time for me to use my experience and skills as a member of our city council and to help set the tone for how we reach our goals now and into the future.

My wife and I are both committed to the city's success and growth and have extensive networks in many facets of our community. We feel that this is the right time for me to step into this role, and we are prepared for the time and energy that will be required of both of us to serve.

If elected, what will be your top three priorities in office?

Economic Growth, Fiscal Management and Transparency
Infrastructure
Public Safety

What is an issue you believe has gone overlooked in your race and how will you address it if elected?

Regardless of the position in this election, our issues are the same. We need representatives on our Council who can be unifiers in the increasingly difficult climate we find ourselves in. I have the unique skillset to fill this role. It isn't cliche when I say it's time to get back to what matters. We must be able to ask questions, require accountability of each other and the city manager, address the priorities of our citizens, and be fully transparent with our actions. All of our interactions need to be done with respect and civility. Often, civility in disagreement is a lost art.

What is your position on the issue of taxpayer-funded lobbying? Please explain.

This issue concerns local control and costs in the rural areas of our State. Small towns and medium-sized cities do not have the funds to allocate staff to represent their needs in Austin. A ban would not eliminate lobbyists overall, and it would put a greater financial burden on rural Texas. A lobbying entity has its place and purpose. We need to ensure that our interests and the interests of our rural communities are effectively represented in Austin, along with the proper accountability and oversight of those employed to do so.

Why are you the best candidate for voters to support for this position?

I believe I am the best candidate for Place 1 because of my professional and personal life experience. Our city is at a crossroads in growth and economic development that will require experienced leadership in several key areas. My experience as an agent, executive in local and national government, and FBI diplomatic tours built my expertise in dealing with issues related to public safety, corruption, and resource and financial management. I have extensive experience in complex government budgets and managing large staff and large-scale interdepartmental government projects. My professional background in investigations has given me the ability to see through complex problems, work with people from all walks of life, and be a unifier in handling challenging circumstances. We need these skills now more than ever for cohesion in our city government.

Personally, I am the poster child for the American dream. Raised in foster care and adopted at an older age, I statistically beat the odds. I decided at a young age I wanted to be an FBI agent. Through hard work, determination, and the grace of God, I realized my dream. A 28-year career serving this country and the people of the Panhandle have prepared me to address the issues most important to the people of Amarillo.
