Roger Williams, U.S. Congressman from Weatherford, has lost his bid to lead the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Williams, who had been expected to be the frontrunner for the position, lost to Congressman Steve Stivers, of Ohio. Stivers won the election in an "internal conference election," according to Politico.
Stivers defeated Williams by a 143-96 margin, according to the Washington Examiner. The conference meeting also saw U.S. House Speaker Paul D. Ryan, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and House Majority Whip Steve Scalise re-nominated for their positions.
Williams and Stivers were running to succeed NRCC Chairman, Greg Walden, of Oregon.
