Deals and Chaos: Black Friday Hits Amarillo

It is that time of year when deals, steals, and madness hit Amarillo stores. It's Black Friday.

Starting on Thursday afternoon, many stores kicked off the Christmas shopping season with major deals on heavily coveted merchandise. Stores ranging all the way from Gebo's to Best Buy brought out deals to entice shoppers into their storefronts.

Popular deals in Amarillo could be found at many stores. Eager tech-savvy shoppers camped out at stores like Best Buy, to pick up technology necessities for the holiday season. Faithful pet owners waited eagerly at Petco and Petsmart to pick up something special for their little best friends. Readers waited at Barnes and Noble, in hopes to pick up a signed book from their favorite author. Gamers waited, controller in hand, at GameStop, to pick up the latest Xbox One and PlayStation 4 games. And while all of these shoppers camped out at the store of their choice, many Amarillo shoppers were hunting down bargains to finish off their Christmas shopping lists.

One Amarilloan, who snagged a $150 chair for $39 at Office Depot, told us about her feeling after claiming her loot.

"I was so glad to get it. It was wonderful!" The shopper told us. "I was thrilled to death to be able to get it for that discounted amount. I got a nice gift for a very good price."

While the long lines and crowds may have been a deterrent for some, other shoppers were walking out with the steal of the year.
