Zika Reaches South Texas

Texas officials are reporting a locally transmitted case of the Zika virus, in Brownsville.

Lab results have confirmed Zika in a non-pregnant female, according to CNN. The Brownsville resident has not traveled to any areas where Zika is circulating, and has no known exposure to the virus, according to reports.

Texas State Health Commissioner, Dr. John Hellerstedt, told CNN that more cases are expected, but officials do not expect the virus to be widespread.
