Amarillo Independent School District board members voted to repeal the A-F ranking system for campuses, during their meeting on Monday.
The rating systems, which were adopted under Texas House Bill 2804, are not slated to go into effect until next August. AISD's move comes before the rankings go into place, in hopes of influencing the way that the rankings are assigned.
Dr. Dana West spoke out against the rating system, earlier this month, in a video posted on YouTube. In the video, West says "We are very much about the growth mindset. The growth mindset knows that there's a point in time where you check your data, but you don't think of yourself as 'I'm a C student or I'm a D student.'"
The vote to repeal the standards was unanimously passed.
