Amarillo's City Council is moving forward with the creation of a "21st Century Senior Services Development" Advisory Board.
In the first reading of an ordinance creating the board, the Council vote 5-0 to approve the creation of the board. The Board is backed by funding from the Amarillo Area Foundation, Baptist Community Services and the Mary E. Bivins Foundation.
Of the 14 member board, ten members will be from local senior organizations, and four members will be community members. Two potential nominees, already discussed by Councilmember Randy Burkett, include William Sumerford and Robert Goodrich.
For those interested in serving on the board, an application is available at amarillo.gov.
