Former Texas Governor Rick Perry and former Exxon Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson are meeting with several U.S. Senators, ahead of their cabinet hearings.
According to the Texas Tribune, Governor Perry met with Senators Mitch McConnell (Kentucky), John Cornyn (Texas), Shelley Moore Capito (West Virginia), Jeff Flake (Arizona), John Hoeven (North Dakota).
Perry, who is President-elect Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Energy, may be opposed by Senators Bernie Sanders (Vermont) and Elizabeth Warren (Massachusetts) during his confirmation hearings.
Tillerson, who is Trump's nominee for Secretary of State, also had several meetings with key senators today. Tillerson, a native of Wichita Falls, met with Senators Chris Coons (Delaware), John McCain (Arizona), Mitch McConnell (Kentucky).
As far as support for the nominations go, the Texas Tribune reports that Perry's nomination does not appear to be in jeopardy. Tillerson's nomination will be opposed by several Democrats, however.
Senator John McCain, an Arizona Republican, also made comments regarding his feeling for Tillerson's nomination. When asked if he will support Tillerson's nomination, McCain said, "Sure. There's also a realistic scenario that pigs fly," according to the Houston Chronicle.
Senator Coons did not say whether he will support Tillerson's nomination.
