Wichita Falls native Rex Tillerson will be serving as the next U.S. Secretary of State.
During the Senate's session, today, Senators voted 56-43 to confirm Tillerson as the new Secretary of State. No Republicans voted against Tillerson's nomination. The 42 Republicans voting in favor of Tillerson's nomination were joined by Mark Warner (VA), Heidi Heitkamp (ND), Joe Manchin (WV), and Angus King (ME).
Senator Chris Coons (D-DE) did not vote.
Tillerson will be the first Texan to hold the position, in nearly 25 years.
Tillerson most recently served as CEO of Exxon Mobil.
