"Ana Lozoya, a business consultant with the West Texas A&M University Small Business Development Center(SBDC), has been named one of 12 recipients of the Women of Distinction award given annually by the Texas Association of Mexican American Chambers of Commerce (TAMACC).
The Women of Distinction award is given to influential Hispanic women who have achieved significant accomplishments and have had made major contributions to Hispanic communities, the state of Texas and to the nation. Previous award winners include the Honorable Eva Guzman, justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, and Mercy Murguia, Potter County commissioner.
“I am proud and humbled to be included among these outstanding Hispanic women who have made incredible contributions to their communities,” Lozoya said. “This would not have been possible without the support of my colleagues who inspire and challenge me.”
Lozoya will travel to Austin Oct. 27 to receive her award at the sixth annual Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon.
“Ana plays a vital role in our community, reaching out to Hispanic entrepreneurs and families, ensuring that they have the resources to succeed,” said SBDC Director Gina Woodward. “Whether those resources are assisting a business owner or mentoring a child who is struggling in school, Ana sets an example for all to follow through her acts of service.”
“Women are amazing! They work hard for their family, career, community, church, but are so humble when someone wants to recognize them for their endurance, excellence and tenacity. We are excited to continue recognizing women for their contributions to our communities and for allowing us to see a glimpse of what they do,” said TAMACC President Pauline E. Anton.
