American Chemical Society WTAMU Group Wins Award

"West Texas A&M University’s American Chemical Society Student Affiliates chapter was once again recognized for the activities it organized during the 2016-2017 academic year by receiving an Honorable Mention award. Awards are classified as outstanding, commendable and honorable mention, and chapters that do not qualify receive a certificate of achievement for meritorious service.

Some of the activities the WTAMU group organized this past year include organizing a group trip to the 2016 Southwest Regional Meeting in Galveston, providing Earth Day demonstrations to students attending the Don Harrington Discovery Center and a fire extinguisher demonstration. The group meets at 12:30 p.m. every first and third Thursday of the month in Room 103 of the Agriculture and Natural Sciences Building.

“We are very pleased to be recognized again for the hard work our officers put into the club,” Dr. Nick Flynn, faculty sponsor and professor of biochemistry, said.

Students interested in joining the group or learning more about the American Chemical Society are encouraged to contact Flynn at 806-651-2542 or at nflynn@wtamu.edu."
