The Amarillo Police Department is reporting that a suspect has been arrested in connection with a murder that took place on Mesa Verde Drive.
APD reported on Thursday night that officers responded to the report of a death in the 3800 block of Mesa Verde Drive. On Thursday afternoon, Amarillo Police Department Special Crimes officers responded to the case and identified the victim as Ricky Lee Howerter, 69.
Special Crimes determined that the victim's son was a suspect in the case. The Armstrong County Sheriff’s Office had arrested the suspect in connection with an unrelated offense that took place in Claude, after the murder.
A murder warrant was obtained in Potter County and was served to Robert Harold Howerter, 46, while he was in the Armstrong County Jail.
