A longtime Amarillo business fixture will be closing its doors in December.
Buck's Sporting Goods, a local sports equipment and clothing shop, will be closing by December. The store has been a frequent fixture of the local sports market for years and has outlasted many other local sports companies, including Big 5.
The store has been open in Amarillo since the 1920's and has served many different uses for those purchasing sports equipment. Baseball and softball players have purchased bats and mitts from the store, track and field athletes have purchased shoes and those from every sport in between have also found something handy at Buck's Sporting Goods.
For many years, Buck's has also been the premiere supplier of letterman jackets in the Texas Panhandle. High school athletes from around the area have donned colorful jackets featuring letters and patches that were purchased from Buck's Sporting Goods. Many Amarillo residents have also used the store for screen printing services.
Items within the store are currently on-sale at Buck's Sporting Goods' new owner, Odessa's Athletic Supply, Inc., plans to close the Amarillo location's retail operation.
According to reports, Buck's Sporting Goods will be closed by December 31st.
