Congressman Mac Thornberry (R-Clarendon) has not yet filed to run for re-election in 2018.
According to filing information from the Republican Party of Texas, Thornberry has yet to formally file to seek re-election in 2018. Thornberry has served in the United States House of Representatives, for Texas' 13th district, since 1995.
In his most recent electoral bid, Thornberry faced off with Libertarian Calvin DeWeese and Green Party candidate Rusty Tomlinson in the general election. Thornberry pulled in 90 percent of the vote, versus DeWeese's 7 percent and Tomlinson's 3 percent.
In 2014, Thornberry defeated Elaine Hays and Pam Barlow in the Republican primary for his seat and topped Democrat Mike Minter in the general election. Thornberry won 84 percent to Minter's 13 percent.
Thornberry has drawn one opponent for the 2018 election. Democrat Greg Sagan has announced his intention to face Thornberry in 2018. Sagan has not yet filed with the Texas Democratic Party or with the Federal Election Commission.
Candidates have until December 11th to file.
