The Libertarian Party of Texas has released its 2018 candidate list and one candidate has signed up to run for Amarillo's congressional seat in 2018.
Calvin DeWeese has filed to run for the 13th District U.S. Congressional seat in 2018. DeWeese previously ran for the 13th District seat in 2016, losing to Congressman Mac Thornberry with about 7 percent. Green Party candidate Rusty Tomlinson also netted about 3 percent against Thornberry.
DeWeese is the only third party candidate to sign up for a bid for the seat in 2018. No candidate from the Green Party has filed, thus far.
In November of 2018, DeWeese will meet Mac Thornberry, a Republican, and Greg Sagan, a Democrat, on the general election ballot.
