Governor Greg Abbott announced this week the appointment of an Amarillo resident to the State's Independent Living Council.
According to information from the Governor's office, Abbott appointed Amarillo resident April Pollreisz to the State's Independent Living Council with a term to expire in 2020. Pollreisz is a current board member of the Panhandle Independent Living Center and formerly served as a customer service specialist in the insurance industry.
Pollreisz holds a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice and a Master of Arts in interdisciplinary studies West Texas A&M University.
Also appointed to the board with terms to expire in 2020 are: Debra A. Lyon, of Austin; Wendy J. Wilkinson, of Houston; and Jonas E. Schwartz, of Austin.
Thomas Michael “Mike” Bates, of Monahans; Colton J. Read, of New Braunfels; and Keisha Rowe Nunn, of Pflugerville were also appointed to the board to serve until 2019. Leah K. Beltran, of Abilene, will serve until next year.
