"West Texas A&M University students enrolled in the Department of Communication’s Basic Performance course will present remarkable stories from triumph and hardship in their People of the Plains performance at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Palace Coffee in Canyon.
The theme for this year’s performances will be “Made from Scratch: Remarkable Stories of Triumph and Hardships.” Carolyn Baum, instructor of communication, has assigned students the role of choosing interesting people in the Texas Panhandle and listening to their life stories. Students will then narrate a story that represents their chosen person. Not only will students be performing their narratives, High Plains Public Radio will be airing the stories over a 12-week broadcast.
The class also will be participating in a service learning project to give back to others. For the project, students will be collecting books to send to South Africa on the study abroad trip next March. The books will be donated to children of Cape Town.
