Amarillo Police Offering Holiday Safety Tips

The Amarillo Police Department is offering residents tips to stay safe during the holiday season.

On Thursday, before the start of the holiday shopping season, the Amarillo Police Department offered a variety of tips to keep residents safe during the holidays. The tips are meant to be used to better inform residents to be vigilant for safety.

According to APD, residents are being encouraged to watch for holiday packages. Thieves look to steal packages off of porches, following deliveries. Therefore, all residents are encouraged to pick up any delivered packages as soon as possible.

Residents are also reminded not to leave valuables inside of vehicles. Even during holiday shopping, residents are reminded not to place any items inside of vehicles. Thieves can also break windows of vehicles to uncover items that are covered within cars and trucks.

APD says that residents should watch for suspicious persons. Any person that appears to be suspicious or "up to no good" should be observed, according to APD.
