Narcotics, Gun and Stolen Car Recovered in North Amarillo

The Amarillo Police Department is reporting that guns, narcotics and a stolen car were recovered during an incident in North Amarillo.

On Monday, officers were dispatched on the report of an auto theft in the 1500 block of Southwest 48th Avenue. A red 1997 Honda four door had been stolen off of a driveway during the middle of the night.

On Tuesday afternoon, officers spotted the vehicle on North Mirror Street. When officers attempted to stop the stolen car, it accelerated and sped away from them on Northeast 24th Avenue. Officers discontinued the pursuit at this point.

Other officers arrived on scene and attempted to located the car. When officers again spotted the vehicle, the placed spikes in the road and successful deflated the vehicle's tires. The suspect pulled into a driveway in the 900 block of Foxglove and ran on foot. Officers arrested the suspect after a brief footchase and detained a female passenger and a male passenger who has been in the vehicle at the time of the chase.

The female passenger of the vehicle was arrested when officers found what appeared to be methamphetamine in her bag. The male passenger was interviewed and then released.

Officers believed that a handgun had been thrown out of the car during the chase. According to APD, a citizen found a loaded .380 in front of a home in the 6500 block of Amarillo Boulevard East and had alerted police.

APD reports that the handgun found in front of the home is believed the be the handgun that was thrown from the vehicle.

Ricky Peter Nuanhngam, 28, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charges of evading arrest with a vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Jessica Monique Gonzalez, 27, was booked into the Potter County Detention Center on the charges of possession of a controlled substance, penalty group I, greater than 4 but less than 200 grams and outstanding traffic warrants.

No person was charged in connection with the handgun.
