City of Amarillo to Host Barrio Neighborhood Meeting

City of Amarillo staff will be on hand on Thursday for the second Barrio Neighborhood Plan open house.

According to the City, the planning department will hold the second Barrio Neighborhood Plan meeting on Thursday at the Alamo Community Center (1502 S. Cleveland St.).

The first Barrio neighborhood meeting was held earlier this year, when the previous City Council set the wheels in motion on the creation of a Barrio Neighborhood Plan. The Barrio is the second neighborhood to be the focus of such a plan, following the completion of the North Heights Neighborhood Plan.

City staff says that the meeting will feature six stations with different themes. The six stations being featured are: Neighborhood Health, Neighborhood Safety, Residential Development & Maintenance, Non-Residential Development & Maintenance, Neighborhood Identify & Amenities, and Infrastructure. Attendees will be asked to give feedback to help with the creation of a completed neighborhood plan by City of Amarillo staff.

A completed plan is on track to be unveiled some time in the spring.

Thursday's meeting will begin at 5:30pm.
