"Amarillo College, which last summer established a chapter of the National Adult Education Honor Society (NAEHS), is now gearing up for the inaugural induction of adult AC students into the prestigious organization.
The Adult Education & Literacy Program will host AC’s first NAEHS induction ceremony for 23 students at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at the College Union Building on the Washington Street Campus.
AC has two adult student programs whose students are eligible for NAEHS inclusion, and the first induction class will be comprised of participants in either English as a Second Language (ESL), or High School Equivalency (HSE) certification. Inductees will receive NAEHS membership certificates and lapel pins during the formal ceremony.
They will also receive letters of recommendation from NAEHS, which can be useful in pursuit of future financial aid and employment opportunities.
To be nominated by faculty for membership in NAEHS, adult education students must demonstrate dependable attendance, a cooperative attitude, and a strong work ethic.
The mission of the NAEHS is to provide meaningful recognition to deserving adult education students, to improve student employment opportunities, to develop student ambassadors for local adult education programs, and to boost adult-education awareness."
