Canyon Set for City Commission, Mayor Elections

Canyon, Texas is having its City Commission and mayoral elections on May 6th, and the field is now set for that race.

In the race for Mayor of Canyon, incumbent Quinn Alexander is retiring. Gary Hinders is the only candidate vying to replace him.

In the race for Canyon City Commission, the ballot is a little more interesting. In the race for Canyon City Commissioner Place 2, incumbent Joseph Shehan will be facing off with challenger Cody Rook Jones. In the race for Canyon City Commission Place 3, incumbent David Logan will be facing challenger Paul Lyons. In the races for City Commission seats places 4 and 5, Roger Remlinger and Justin Richardson will both be running unopposed.

The 2017 ballot is less contested at the top than in 2015. In 2015, challenger Cheryl Malcolm attempted to unseat incumbent mayor Quinn Alexander. Alexander won re-election.
