The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued a red flag warning for the area, this weekend.
According to the announcement, due to breezy conditions and a dry air mass, critical fire conditions are spread throughout Western Texas and the Oklahoma panhandles. Elevated fire dangers are also possible further east, according to the report, where wind speeds are slightly reduced.
Local residents are asked not to participate in activities that could lead to sparks. The National Weather Service says that these activities could include: barbequing, playing with matches, driving vehicles off pavement, plowing and mowing.
Residents are also asked to "do your part to prevent wildfires."
The warning was issued at 12pm and will last until 7pm.
