Amarillo Matters has filed its finance report for the upcoming City Council election and one former city councilmember has contributed.
Brian J. Eades for City Commission Place 2 donated $4,598.74 to the Amarillo Matters PAC ahead of the May elections. Eades' campaign donated the money on January 20th, according to state documents. According to documents from the City of Amarillo, this was the balance that was left in Eades' campaign account at the time of his last finance filing.
Eades served on the City Council and Commissions from 2007-2016, before leaving to work in a medical practice in Colorado. Eades won his final election in 2015, retaining his seat by defeating challenger Alan Abraham, with 65 percent of the vote.
According to the Amarillo Matters PAC filing, Eades was the only candidate or office holder to balance out by donating. Several other donations to the PAC came from ex-elected officials, however.
At the end of its filing, Amarillo Matters reported raising $125,273.74, while spending $102,496.22. Amarillo Matters is maintaining a balance of $157,573.46 on hand.
