City Council to Consider Parking Garage Regulations

Amarillo City Council members will be discussing parking garage regulation during their meeting on Tuesday.

Amarillo City Council members will be considering what parking garage regulation and fees should look like for the new downtown parking garage. The City Council will also be considering the approval of a $1,000,000 loan to the Local Government Corporation to finish out the retail portion of the garage. The loan will be part of a separate item.

In a memo to council members from the office of the city manager, the proposed parking garage rates were defined. Under the proposal, the rates will be $2.00 per hour for the first two hours, $2.00 for each additional two hour period and a maximum $7.00 daily rate. Under the proposed rates, parking will be free on Sunday, except for events, and likewise on Tuesday evenings.

Also during the meeting on Tuesday, council will consider the approval of a water main replacement and the approval of resolutions relating to the WRCA Ranch Rodeo and the AQHA World Championship show. The council will also consider denying a SPS sur-charge.

The meeting will be held at Amarillo City Hall (509 SE 7th) in the City Council chambers. The meeting will begin at 5pm.
