Texas A&M University system chancellor John Sharp has asked for a delay to the extension of his contract.
The Texas Tribune reported that days before Sharp was supposed to receive a multi-year extension to his contract, the vote was postponed. In a letter to A&M Board of Regents chairman Cliff Thomas, Sharp asked for his extension to be delayed until August. Sharp said that this would allow Tim Leach to vote on his extension, if Leach is confirmed by the Texas Senate.
The extension would keep Sharp's salary steady but would extend the contract until 2023.
