The Amarillo Police Department announced the correction of some call center issues, yesterday.
According to APD, the Amarillo Emergency Communications Center continued to receive calls from three lines coming from the same local business. The AECC identified what business the calls were coming from and contacted a business representative who was not in town.
Another local representative drove to the business and let officers in. The officers disconnected the multi-use phone, which ended the interference.
The call center took approximately 470 calls during this time period. And APD/AECC supervisor called 911 and was able to get through, but it took several rings.
APD is unaware of any calls that were interrupted or delayed by the repeated calls.
