AISD: Number of Palo Duro Students Attending Texas Tech Triples

Amarillo Independent School District is reporting that the number of Palo Duro High School students attending Texas Tech University in 2017 has tripled, compared to last year's number.

AISD published an article on its website stating that the number of Palo Duro students going to Texas Tech has seen a dramatic increase. AISD attributes the sharp increase to Dr. Paul Frazier, a Palo Duro alum and Hall of Fame inductee. Frazier currently serves as Associate Vice President of the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement at Texas Tech University. Frazier has been a driving force in encouraging students to pursue opportunities at Texas Tech and many other colleges and universities.

According to a map from AISD, students from the various Amarillo ISD high schools have been accepted to more than 1,500 universities across the country, this year. 164 of these acceptances have been from Texas Tech University, in Lubbock.
