"On May 28th at 4:35 PM, APD officers were dispatched to the intersection of SW 58th and South Western on a vehicle accident.
A 2008 Chevrolet truck was in the westbound lanes of SW 58th stopped at the red light. The light turned green and the driver proceeded into the intersection. A white 1996 Dodge Ram truck driven by Michael Anthony Deroin a 24 year old male, was northbound on Western Street. Deroin did not stop at the red light and ran into the Chevrolet truck. The Dodge came to a stop, but Deroin got out of the vehicle and ran on foot.
The officers were also alerted to a silver 2015 Hyundai car that had been struck in the rear by Deroin in the 6400 block of South Western before he had struck the white Chevrolet truck. The driver of the Silver Hyundai was transported to a local hospital with non life threatening injuries. Other officers searching the area located Deroin hiding in an alley on the north side of Canyon Drive in the 5700 block of the frontage road. He was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation.
Deroin was found to be in possession of an illegal knife. While at the hospital officers were made aware of another accident involving Deroin. Before striking the Hyundai and the Chevrolet, Deroin struck a silver 2000 Mercedes car in the area of Western and Sundown Lane in Randall County.
There were no injuries reported in this accident. Deroin was later booked into the Randall County Jail for Driving While Intoxicated, Accident Involving Damage to Vehicles Greater than or Equal to $200, and Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon."
