The Amarillo ISD Board of Trustees met today to discuss several issues including a plan that would include a raise for district employees during their noon meeting.
According to the Amarillo Education Association, the Board of Trustees voted 6-0 to approve the 2017-2018 employee compensation plan that includes about a 2 and a half percent increase in salary for all classes of employees. The vote came as the Board discussed district funding and financial health for the upcoming school year.
The Board decided to postpone a vote on the election of officers, as Trustee Renee McCown, who currently serves as board vice president, was absent.
The board's next assembly will be Saturday at the Amarillo Education Association's community forum on institutional racism. The board will not take any formal action at the event.
