APD Arrests One in Armed Robbery Attempts

The Amarillo Police Department has arrested one person following twoarmed robbery attempts on Tuesday night.

APD reports that about 7pm last night, an attempted armed robbery took place at the Homewood Suites at 8800 I-40 West. APD reports that the suspect entered the building and announced a robbery, holding his hand under his shirt as if he had a gun. The victim did not comply and then the suspect entered the Drury Inn and Suites at 8540 I-40 West and attempted the same robbery. The victim left the counter area and the suspect left the building.

Officers were advised that the suspect had walked to the Longhorn Steakhouse. Officers went to the restaurant and found the man sitting inside where he was arrested.

The suspect, 29-year-old Shawn Clark, was arrested for one charge of aggravated assault and was booked into the Potter County Detention Center.

The robberies are still under investigation.
