U.S. Congressman and senate candidate Beto O'Rourke (D-El Paso) stopped by Canyon on Tuesday as part of his Fourth of July tour of the Texas Panhandle.
O'Rourke, the Democratic challenger to Senator Ted Cruz, walked around Canyon's Fair on the Square talking to residents about issues facing Texas. O'Rourke spoke to attendees and vendors at multiple booths including the High Plains Republican Women's booth.
After O'Rourke's visit, former mayoral candidate Renea Dauntes praised O'Rourke by saying, "Beto is the integrity we need in Washington."
This was O'Rourke's second visit to the Amarillo area since announcing his candidacy for United States Senate. O'Rourke previously visited Amarillo's Abuelo's restaurant in April for a campaign event.
