Both candidates for Texas' U.S. Senate seat are raising large sums ahead of March 2018's primary elections.
Texas' incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R) had $4.85 million on hand during the last campaign reporting period by the Federal Election Commission. In addition to Cruz's on hand for his Senate campaign, Cruz's presidential campaign account still has about $33,000 on hand.
For Democrat Beto O'Rourke, Politico is reporting that the El Paso Democrat has raised $1 million in the two months since announcing his bid. Official numbers from the Federal Election Commission are unavailable but should be officially posted on July 15th. O'Rourke congressional campaign account had about $399,000 on hand during the last reporting period.
Campaign finance information is currently unavailable for Republican challenger Stefano de Stefano and for Democratic challenger Roman James Alfred McAllen.
