Prospects for the West Texas A&M University baseball team will descend upon Canyon this fall in hopes of being a future Buff.
According to WTAMU's Athletics Department, fall camps have been announced this week with hitting camps scheduled in September, October and November, and an all skills camp in September. A prospect tryout is also slated to take place in October.
The player to teacher ratio for each camp will be 3:1, meaning more exposure for each player. The all skills camp will be slated for September 10th for players aged 5-11. The cost of the camps is $60 per player.
The prospect camp is scheduled for October 21st and is $50 per prospect. The tryout will consist of a 60-yard dash, arm strength testing in the outfield and infield, defensive skills, batting practice and a bullpen session.
Rules are slated for the tryout by the NCAA. According to WTAMU, "Prospects will need to have a Sickle Cell test and a physical that has been completed within the last six months with them when they show up to the tryout. Prospects must be currently in their junior year to attend this tryout, this is an NCAA rule. NCAA rules only allows prospects to attend one tryout at an institution. If a prospect has attended a prospect tryout at WT before, they will not be able to attend again, unless they have graduated from high school and it is after September 1 following their graduation year."
