United States Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke (D-El Paso) said in an interview yesterday that he will work to find common ground with President Donald Trump, but would support the president's impeachment.
In an interview with the Texas Tribune, O'Rourke said that he wants Trump to be successful and will work with the president. O'Rourke did say that for Trump's previous comments, he would support his impeachment.
"We want him to be successful especially as it pertains to supporting our service members and conducting our foreign policy and the wars that we wage," O'Rourke said, "We can find common ground where we find common cause."
Later in the interview, O'Rourke did say that he would support Trump's impeachment.
"His mendacity, his lies to the American people...I do not believe that he is fit to be running this country," O'Rourke said, "But there is a democratic process we must follow."
O'Rourke is currently the Democratic front-runner challenging Ted Cruz for his U.S. Senate seat in 2018.
