City Council Set for Budget-Based Council Meeting on Tuesday

The Amarillo City Council is set to take up several budget issues during Tuesday's meeting.

The Amarillo City Council will kick off the meeting by hosting a public hearing on the tax increase in Amarillo. According to City staff, the residents of Amarillo will be paying the City of Amarillo more taxes, due to the passage of two bond propositions and the increase in property evaluations. No formal action will be taken.

City Council members will then consider approving the 2017/2018 budget for the Center City Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone. That board helps provide money to developers for downtown projects.

The City Council will also consider approving a meet & confer agreement between the City of Amarillo and the Amarillo Police Officers Association.

Tuesday's meeting is set to take place in the City Council chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 SE 7th Ave.) on Tuesday, August 29th. The meeting will begin at 7pm.
