Council to Consider Tax Increase

The Amarillo City Council will consider the first reading of an increase in the local tax rolls for the 2017-2018 fiscal year, during Tuesday's meeting.

City Councilmembers will consider a tax rate, which is an effective increase of 8.33 percent over last year's rate, during Tuesday's meeting. The increase is partially due to the bonds from propositions approved by voters in the 2016 municipal bond election.

Councilmembers will also consider approving the budget. Due to an increase in the collection of revenue by the City, the budget is proposed to grow by about 7.73 percent.

Tuesday's City Council meeting will be held at 4pm in the City Council Chambers of City Hall (509 SE 7th Avenue).
